FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the Wake Democratic Forum?
A: We are an auxiliary of the Wake County Democratic Party, a community of Democrats who gather monthly to connect, learn, and organize around the issues that matter most. Our events are open to the public and focused on building a stronger, more inclusive Democratic movement in Wake County.
Q: When and where does the Forum meet?
A: We meet on the first Thursday of each month (excluding July and December) at the NC State University Club in Raleigh. Doors open at 6:00 PM, with dinner and programming to follow.
Q: Do I have to be a member to attend a meeting?
A: No! Everyone is welcome to attend. We encourage membership for those who want to support our work year-round, but it’s not required to join us at a meeting.
Q: How much does it cost to attend a meeting?
A: It depends on your participation, regular tickets cost:
- $30 for dinner + event
- $15 for Young Dems (ages 18–35) with dinner (Connect with the Wake Young Dems to get a discount code!)
Q: What if I want to attend but the cost is a barrier?
A: We never want cost to stand in the way of participation. If the price of a ticket would prevent you from attending, reach out — we’ll do our best to make sure you can be part of the Forum.
Q: How do I join or renew my membership?
A: Visit our Membership Page to sign up or renew. Memberships help support our programming, sponsor young leaders, and keep the Forum growing strong.
Q: What happens at a typical meeting?
A: Meetings feature food, fellowship, and dynamic programming — often in the form of speeches, fireside chats, panels, or moderated conversations with Democratic leaders and community voices. We also share key political updates and ways to get involved.
Q: Who can join the Forum?
A: Anyone who shares our Democratic values and wants to stay connected to local politics is welcome — regardless of age, experience, or background. We’re proud to be a welcoming, intergenerational space.
Q: Is the Forum just for men?
A: Not at all! While we were originally founded as the Wake County Men’s Club, we have grown into a fully inclusive space for Democrats of all ages and walks of life.
Q: How do I sponsor a Young Democrat?
A: You can add a sponsorship when purchasing your ticket to help cover the cost of meals and participation for rising leaders.
